Earth Sciences

  • Pascale Roy-Léveillée (MSc). Frozen Ground, Permafrost,
    Pascale is studying the distribution of snow in the Blackstone Uplands, Yukon Territory, and the controls on this distribution by topography and vegetation. Her project is aimed at determining how snow cover in various terrain units of the area is related to index sites near the Dempster Highway. The application of her project is in management of snowmobile traffic and its impact on tundra soils and vegetation.

The Arctic Borderlands Ecological Knowledge Coop monitors and assesses change in the range of the Porcupine Caribou Herd and adjacent Mackenzie Delta area in NWT, Yukon & Alaska. This groups administers Taiga Net, which is a co-operative environmental and community web network.
